This truck is terrific. The lifting mechanism is very realistic and very effective. The rear hatch lift is terrific and useful. The shoot for the garbage is a good size and things that fit in the garbage can fit well down the shoot. The door lifting mechanism is a great design too. One drawback is that the joints of the garbage man are fairly stiff and this makes it difficult for him to enter and exit the truck, but I suppose with more play the stiff joints won't be an issue for long.
A previous review says that the lifting mechanism easily breaks free of its housing, but this is not the case if you first install the lifting mechanism and never detach. It is the attaching/detaching that leads to the "breaking free." The toy is designed to have the lifting mechanism attached once and then the garbage can slid in for repeated use.
Prices for the product vary greatly. I have seen it as low as $15.74 ranging up to the forties.

My son (now almost 2) received this truck for Christmas a few months ago, and adores it above all other toys. He is infatuated with the real garbage and recycling trucks, and any time he hears a "backing up" beep, he exclaims, "Trash truck!" This truck is perfect - it's large enough for him to push it around (and even ride on, around the kitchen!), has realistic honking and beeping sounds, and a little conveyor to take the trash can up. He LOVES it, and so do I. A great buy.

My son is 2 1/2 and LOVES this Recycle Truck. We have had it a whole month and he hasn't manage to break anything on it, and it isn't like he hasn't tried! He can do the controls himself and he can put the recycle bin on the part that lifts it and dumps it. The only thing that is tough is that the guy that comes with it (Dave as my son named him) doesn't really fit in the cab all that well and once you get him in, it can be hard to get him out. Luckily for "Dave", he spends most of his time in the back of it anyways.

Toy appears to be very well made, functional and well designed for the 4 year old child who wanted it. Came with a figure and trash bins that enhanced the play value of the truck. Child loves it.

We gave this Tonka Garbage Truck to our two year old grandson for Christmas and after he opened it, he didn't want to play with anything else. He loved it.
